"Friends are kisses blown to us by Angels." - Author Unknown

Emily Griffitt Anderson was last seen in Caldwell County, North Carolina, early in the morning of December 29, 2005. She left her home on Dry Ponds Road in Sawmills around 8 a.m. to run errands and pay bills. When she had not returned home and no one had heard from her by that evening, she was reported missing.

Emily was last seen at Martin Marietta Aggregates on Bradford Moutain Road in Lenoir,NC around 10 a.m. She was described as a white female with medium to dark brown hair, wearing glasses, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 170 pounds. She was wearing jeans, work boots and a dark blue "Old Navy" sweatshirt.

At the time of her disappearance, Emily was driving a 2000 white Chevrolet Silverado standard cab four-wheel-drive pick-up truck. The truck had a long bed with a diamond-plate tool box. On the front bumper of the truck was a license plate that read "Got Milk?"

A full scale hunt was conducted by authorities and members of the community in the neighborhood and in the nearby town of Sawmills without success. The search was then expanded to a one-hundred-mile radius from her home. When Emily had been missing for a full week, aerial searches were ordered in efforts to spot her white Chevy long-bed pickup truck.

On Saturday, January 7th, 2006 at approximately 1 p.m., the Duncan, South Carolina Police Department located a white 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck in a Waffle House parking lot just off Interstate 85 near Spartanburg. The truck matched a description of Emily’s truck that had been issued by the Caldwell County Sheriff's Office.

Detectives with the Caldwell County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene and transported the vehicle back to Caldwell County for processing and further testing.

While beginning to process the vehicle, Emily's body was found stuffed in the locked tool-box in the bed of the her truck. Emily had been shot to death.
